CAREER FIELDS

We offer Reserve Officer Programs in a variety of fields including:

As a Reserve officer, you'll get unmatched opportunities to take charge during a lifesaving search and rescue mission, or lead missions against drug smugglers or illegal aliens.

As an engineering officer, you could be overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of Coast Guard vessels, merchant vessels, or shore facilities.

Or, prove to us that you have what it takes to become an environmental manager, and you may end up protecting the environment from oil and chemical spills.

There's one thing you can definitely be sure of: because the Coast Guard is the smallest of all our nation's armed forces, once you're a commissioned Reserve Officer, your leadership skills, experience, and management abilities will be called upon often.

As a Coast Guard officer, you will have the opportunity to test, refine, and execute your leadership and management skills in your assigned area of responsibility. While the needs of the Coast Guard may require officers to serve in varied responsibilities, the selection of an area of expertise can influence future assignments and growth opportunities.

Because of the geographic constraints of Reserve drills, a newly commissioned Ensign is available for assignment to any vacant selected reserve billet matching their particular skill set and within reasonable commuting distance from their home.
